What We Believe

GBC is a church reclamation of Highland Baptist Church. This work came about in God’s good timing through a partnership between Harvest Baptist and Highland Baptist Church, beginning in November 2025 and officially launching in June 2026.

At present, GBC functions as a daughter church of Highland Baptist Church. This means we are a ministry of Highland, under the care and oversight of their elder board, and aligned with their constitution and doctrinal statement.

As the Lord allows and GBC becomes a self-sustaining church body, we will transition into formal independence by adopting our own constitution and doctrinal statement and becoming a sister church alongside Highland Baptist Church.

Until that time, we remain joyfully submitted to their oversight and grateful for their partnership in the gospel.
At the same time, we want to clearly emphasize two foundational doctrines that shape every local church.

Scripture

We believe the Bible is God’s Word to us—without error in all it affirms, completely trustworthy, and the final authority for what we believe and how we live. It is not merely a collection of wise sayings or moral instruction; it is God’s gracious revelation of Himself. Through Scripture, God reveals His character, makes known His redemptive work in Christ, and teaches us what it means to follow Him. In His Word, we are given everything necessary to know God and to walk with Him faithfully each day. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17

Salvation

We believe that every one of us is born into sin and, because of that, separated from God. Sin isn't just the wrong things we do—it's our condition apart from Christ. Left to ourselves, we cannot repair what has been broken between us and God. We need a Savior.

That's why Jesus came.

We believe Jesus Christ is the only Savior—fully God and fully man. He lived a perfect, sinless life, died in our place, and rose again, defeating sin and death once and for all. He accomplished for us what we could never accomplish for ourselves.

As Scripture says, "who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time" (1 Timothy 2:6). This is often called the Great Exchange: "For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God" (2 Corinthians 5:21). On the cross, Jesus took our sin upon Himself, and through faith in His finished work, His righteousness is credited to all who believe. As John writes, "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12).

Because of Christ, forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and new life are freely offered to everyone who repents and believes in Him. Salvation is God's work from beginning to end. It is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone—not something we can earn or deserve. There is no other way to be made right with God than through Jesus Christ. As Jesus Himself declared, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6). And because God loves the world, "he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16).

When we place our faith and trust in Jesus Christ, we are united to Him by grace through faith, sharing in His death and resurrection and receiving every spiritual blessing that is ours in Him (Romans 6:3–5; Ephesians 1:3). We are forgiven, declared righteous before God, adopted into His family, and given new life through the Holy Spirit. From that new identity, God begins the lifelong work of transforming us to become more like Christ.

If you have never trusted Christ, this invitation is for you. Today can be the day you receive the grace, forgiveness, and new life that God freely offers through His Son.

Blessings in Christ
