Our Past, Present & Future
Gunbarrel Baptist Church's History
Gunbarrel Baptist Church is a story of God’s faithfulness through His people.
In 2025, eight faithful believers from what had been Harvest Church carried a deep desire—to see a gospel witness remain in their community. They loved their church, they loved their neighbors, and they trusted that the Lord was not finished. Knowing they needed help, they reached out to Converge Rocky Mountain—and in His kindness, God provided.
Through that connection, Highland Baptist Church came alongside them—not just with resources, but with people, prayer, and partnership. Highland sent Nathan Anderson to serve as pastor, along with a group of members who joined those who had remained. What began as a small, faithful remnant became a growing church family.
What could have been an ending became a new beginning.
In June 2026, the church was relaunched as Gunbarrel Baptist Church—a testimony to God’s sustaining grace and His commitment to build His church.
We move forward holding fast to the promise of Philippians 1:6: that He who began a good work will carry it on to completion. That promise shapes who we are—it gives us confidence in uncertainty, hope in the ordinary, and joy in the work God has set before us.
Our heart is simple: to be a family focused and Gospel centered church - which means we desire to be a people who love Jesus deeply, love one another genuinely, and live on mission together in Gunbarrel and the surrounding communities.
If you’re looking for a church family—to grow in Christ, to be known and cared for, and to serve with purpose—we would love to welcome you. Come gather with us and be part of what God is doing.
Our Mission
At Gunbarrel Baptist Church, we aim to be a people deeply rooted in the Word of God and sent out on the mission of God. We believe the good news of Jesus Christ changes everything—reconciling us to God, forming us into His people, and sending us out to make Him known.
We are committed to being both family-focused and gospel-centered. The Gospel shapes how we worship, how we disciple our children, how we pursue lives that reflect Christ, and how we love one another in a biblical community.
When we talk about family, we don’t just mean biological families, but the family of God. We love seeing every generation grow together in Christ—bearing one another’s burdens, encouraging one another, and maturing together in faith.
We also recognize that the church does not exist for itself. We are a sent people. Our desire is to be a faithful presence in Gunbarrel and beyond—loving our neighbors, engaging our community, and proclaiming the truth of Scripture as we make disciples of Jesus Christ. We long to see lives changed by the Gospel, homes strengthened by the Word, and the name of Jesus made known in every part of life.
We are not a perfect people, but a dependent one—sinners saved by grace, continually being shaped by the Spirit through the Word. At GBC, we seek to be a church where people are known, cared for, and encouraged to walk faithfully with Christ together.
If you’re considering visiting, please know you would be warmly welcomed. We would love to meet you, pray with you, and help you find your place among us as we follow Jesus together.
Blessings in Christ,
Nathan & Carla
